Here's is your full-coverage guide on how to write a character application to get started with Dangerprone!

Why Do I Apply?

The application form is a character building tool that will guide through getting a character ready to joing the fray. Old hats to roleplay groups and character applications will find this process pretty painless, and for newbies, hopefully we make your life a little easier by doing this exercise. This process helps make sure that:

• Your character makes sense with the world and mechanics
• Helps you build a solid foundation for your character
• Avoids the need for potential retcons or corrections

Approval Criteria

Our goal is to get you approved and joining in the fun as quickly as we can. We aren't here to stymie your creativity, but we do have to make sure your character fits into the setting and game mechanics, so there are a few boundaries and basics to keep in mind.

• All characters should have a basic understanding of language, culture, and technology.
• Don't contradict the game canon. Our canon does differ from Homestuck canon. Much of the core basis is the same, but with some creative expansion to create a more open and creative environment. Don't agonize about this - we'll help catch anything that doesn't align.
• Don't make a mary-sue/gary-stu.
• Don't make assumptions about how other characters percieve yours. You don't get to decide how other characters perceive or react to you.
• Avoid offensive caricatures and stereotypes.

Warnings

• We won't stop you from making hard to roleplay characters, so be your own censor on this.
• Risk and consequences are a real factor in this game, so choices like crime, murder, hard drugs, etc. can and likely will result in in-character consequences. We will give your warnings to major consequences but be aware you are in a reactive world that is watching what you do 👁👄👁

Filling Out Your Application

What you'll need to do is open the applications forum in discord and create a post for your troll, ideally titled with their name. Fill out the required application information inside the post and when you're ready to have staff review, post @staff to let them know and tag your post as 'ready'. One of our staff will review and reply to you ASAP to get you approved or let you know any adjustments that need made. Any additional back and forth, such as checking the symbol art for the database is correct will happen in that post too.

When filling out your application, there are some mechanics you will need to consider:

• Blood Hue
  There are certain restrictions on what blood colors are commonly accepted. You can find info about selecting a blood color here.
• Symbol
  No two trolls have the same symbol unless they're a direct descendant of another. Check out currently claimed symbols here.
• Appearance
  Kid clothing options are limited to a government stipend unless you are a fuschia blood sea dweller. Learn more about your government stipend and how to creatively abuse it here!
• Mutations
  Not every troll has 'em, but if they do, we need to know about it. Learn about how these are classified here so you can self diagnose.
• Hive
  Also known as your house. These are also dispensed on a government stipend. Learn more about what your options/restrictions here.
• Lusus
  Also know as your mutant parent creature. They will always have the same blood color as your troll. Learn more about lusii here. Unnatural blood mutants will not have a lusus.
• Age & Level
  All characters start at the child stage, which is approximately 7-13yrs old. This means they should generally act/react like children and won't have much of a reputation to start out. All characters also start at Level 0. This means that generally all kids are on a pretty even palying field starting out. Make of this what you will.

Required Application Information

• Name
  Trolls have a first name and last name, with 6 letters each.
• Blood Hue
  Include your hemo type (rust, bronze, gold, lime, etc) and the hexcode (#ff0000) for your troll's blood color.
• Symbol
  Describe it or include a convenient image reference.
• Appearance
  Describe what your troll looks like or include a convenient image reference.
• Mutation(s)
  If applicable, make sure to indicate what it is!
• Hive/Housing
  Give us a quick description of your house. Could be as simple as telling us you're using athe standard housing option, or as complex as a Sims screenshot, up to you.
• Lusus
  Describe your child's lusus and any information you have about how your child feels about them.
• Bio/Description
  You can tells us about hobbies, interests, their life up until now, or whatever ideas you have. We know sometimes you find the personality as you play, so don't agonize over it. As much or as little that gets your idea across is fine.
• Positive & Negative Traits
  To make sure your character concept is balanced, please identify at least 2 positive traits and 2 negative traits. You can have more, but you must have an equal number of strengths to weaknesses. Give a sentence on each to expalin what that trait is or how it affects them
  • Positive traits are traits that make your troll's life easier or aid in their survival.
  • Negative traits are traits that make their life more difficult or get them into trouble.
